Our golfing society is privileged to get to play one of the most revered golf courses in the world on a Friday afternoon every June. This year marked our biggest ever attendance with forty four OC’s teeing it up in wonderful playing conditions, albeit a little breezy. The course challenge was a minor detail for the Sheil Cup winner, Ivan Feran (‘00), who golfed his ball superbly for a score of 39 points. Second was Tom Lane ('81) with 37 points and third was Conor O'Higgins ('08) with 36 points.
Ivan’s year group have beaten the rest of us in the first three competitions of 2025 and reflects their support in numbers for the current society captain, Stephen McGee (‘00). This is great to see and meets our objective of bringing OC’s together through golf and creating memories.
We had 50 OC’s for dinner and the important matter of the Ulster Branch AGM. The Delap team (Tommy ‘81 and Rory ‘20) brought us through the Ulster Branch business and finances in record time, for which we were more than grateful.
It was a fantastic event and the catering team deserve top marks for a fabulous meal.
Special thanks also to Richard Flood (‘76) who is the current club captain and was also of great assistance in the lead up to the event.
