Past v Present Debate 2025

21 Mar 2025
General

The motion for this annual debate was “This house believes that Artificial Intelligence will do more harm than good”. The Government was the Past team of Brendan Kirwan (OC 90), Greg Moran (OC 84), Conall MacCarthy (OC 97) and Drew Flood (OC 84).

After a fascinating debate, with lively contributions from the floor, the adjudicating panel awarded the Highly Commended awards to Greg Moran and Padraig Finnegan. The best speaker of the night award went to Conall MacCarthy, and and the winning team was the Opposition comprising Padraig Finnegan, Hugh O’Sullivan Sexton, Eduard Giurca and Lukas Felten.

Sincere thanks to Mark Lochrin, who, through his tenacity, ensured this fantastic event took place after being cancelled at the last minute in October.
