After the success of the London Dinner in 2022 it was decided to make the function an Annual one.
On Saturday 18th November approximately 80 Old Clongownians and some partners attended the Clongowes Union London Dinner which was again held at The Royal Thames Yacht Club in Knightsbridge.
There was a wonderful mix of OC’s with the eldest having left in 1951 and the youngest having left last year! It was really wonderful to see such a diversity of ages creating such a lovely atmosphere and all getting on so well.
Similar to last year it was really encouraging to see such support from the younger generation with the Class of 2018 deserving special mention with an attendance of 12.
President Elect, Shane Dowling (OC’ 83) was MC for the evening. Grace was said by Fr. Michael Sheil whose attendance was appreciated by all.
The President of the Union, Peter O’Meara (OC’ 88) addressed the room then and thanked everyone for attending, particularly those who had travelled some distance to be there. He praised the efforts made by all those involved in organising, particularly Michael Doyle (OC’15) and Marcus Nolan (OC’16).
A beautiful meal was had after which Ross Finegan (OC’ 87) replied on behalf of the guests. He had great words of wisdom for the younger generation that had recently crossed the water. He strongly encouraged that the event continue annually and we are assured by our President Elect that plans for next years event are already being made.
